The Iphone
October 4th, 2008 at 11:13 pm by grayjaket in UncategorizedA close friend of mine recently bought a Samsung Instinct, and so after months of hearing how much better this was going to be then my Iphone, I’ve finally gotten a chance to play around with it. I’ve had my Iphone for several months, and the “new gadget” excitement had been waning as of late, but after using the Instinct, I must say, I have a renewed love for all things Apple. Let’s start with the basics.
First off, make no mistake, the Instinct is nothing less then an Iphone rip off. From the main menu, to the sliding answering, it doesn’t even pretend. Sadly, unlike some of my favorite rip off products, it takes an excellent design and somehow manages to make it less functional.
The touch screen is significantly less responsive, sometimes requiring you to repeatedly slide your finger across the screen multiple times in frustration, until you are forced to slowly pull it across till you get it where you want it. The messaging service has an additional problem, in that while you’re trying to scroll it will click on texts and pull them up. Annoying.
The phone has very limited storage capacity for your texts, only keeping them so far, and then it starts to remove records of your sent messages. So you can see what your friends said, but without your replies. What?? Someone tell me who thought that was even a good idea. Absurd at best.
The scrolling effect is cool though. I don’t know if I like it better then the iPhone’s “pulling at the edge of the screen” effect, but it does this cool block stacking effect. Not cool enough to buy the phone.
The web browsing is quick, and the mail set up isn’t bad. The overall interface is not as crisp as the iPhone’s or as styleish. The phone itself is simple a rectangular box shape. Not very sleek at all.
I know I’ve skipped a lot of big phone related things, but I hit on all of my concerns. The last one I have is the keyboard.
When typing anything, you’re basically forced to tilt the screen. The keyboard is more accurate then the iPhone’s but the iffy touch screen makes typing laborious without two hands. The auto-correct is alright, but it tends to always assume it’s right, rather then give you the option. It’s rather frustrating overall and you’re better served to turn it off.
I’ll explore more of it’s features in a later post perhaps. It is a cheaper phone, but far from better. The iPhone is worth every extra penny you spend. Don’t buy junk just cuz it’s cheaper folks. If you don’t have AT&T get a cracked iPhone. That’s all I’ve gotta say.
Oh yeah…I’m typing this all out on my iPhone. Easy with my WordPress application and my nice easy touch screen keyboard. Wouldn’t dream of typing this out on the Instinct. Alright I’m done!

September 9th, 2008 at 07:46 am by Tsali Wasituna in UncategorizedOkay, seriously, I know there are more iPhone users out there in the Kentucky area, why hvent you joined Zintin yet? We need more people around here, I’m getting bored with the same old crap all the time. The green dot is someone online, the yellows are offline, and I’m the only one posting on the local city boards.
And a cat picture for good measure.

Ahhhh!!
August 14th, 2008 at 06:50 pm by Tsali Wasituna in UncategorizedSo here I am, charging my iPhone in the car while listening to bluegrass on XM. Nothing else really going on, but I do have a scary Slipknot mask in my car and I’m going to ride my dads bicycle here in a bit. Ideal hands don’t lead to the devils work, no sir, not in the least. They lead to blogging.

Cleaning
July 19th, 2008 at 09:47 am by Tsali Wasituna in UncategorizedIf you’re cleaning up an area, make sure you don’t throw away an iPhone box, even if it appears empty. Lost my AT&T Sim card now, so if anyone out there has an AT&T sim I can borrow, lemme know.
